Welcome to Perch's IGA

Nicknamed by his grandfather, Earl "Perch" Schmanski opened his own butcher shop on Washington Avenue that he named, appropriately enough, Perch's. Developing strong relationships and loyal customers within the community, Earl relocated his growing business to the current location in 1964.

In 1993, Michael Kendziorski, who had been an apprentice of Mr. Schmanski for nearly 20 years, was given the opportunity to purchase the business. He and his wife Kimberly accepted the offer and decided to keep the name Perch's IGA, as it was well known in the area. Building upon the courteous service instilled by Earl, Michael quickly expanded to accomodate his customers needs.

Perch's IGA Foodstore now has the largest full service meat counter in Northern Michigan. Whether supplying local businesses with its famous ground chuck, sponsoring countless community activities, or taking the time to help fulfill everyday customers needs, Perch's IGA has continued to practice its time-tested old fashioned values.
